truck runs better with timing set more retarded than recommended. still having weird issues, but installed a continuous duty solenoid, which should make overheating/melting fan switches a thing of the past, & buy me time to see if i can cannibalize the fan motor from the 200sx. i also misdiagnosed an issue and as a result now have a spare starter solenoid (turns out what i needed was… wait for it… a jump start. duh). bummer, but good extra part to have.

in other news, i now know how to install an alternator in a mid-90′s import sedan. in a parking lot. in 95 degree heat. with the wrong tools.

$90 and the car’s running great, though a/c issues still unresolved. blows great when going over bumpy roads, but otherwise nonop. something weird up with the blower motor- but i think i’m refusing to spend any more money on parts at this point… i mean, today i accidentally poked a hole through the floorpan while tightening the bolt holding the radial arm on. just ridiculous. from now on i’m riveting patches over everything, duct-taping the rest. each fix is $20-30, but when you add it up i coulda bought a less shitty car by now.
